First of all, thank you for visiting. The site has grown quite a lot since I started, although most of you still prefer to lurk around the bushes, I enjoy this non-relationship with those of you who deem my writing worthy for 1~3 minutes of your life.

With this realization, I understand that I need to take blogging more seriously and think for the comfort of the readers as well. So to that effect, I am going to adapt a more consistent writing schedule. It’s going to be twice a week with the majority of the updates happening around Monday and Thursday.

    Haha!
    Blogging is hard. You write about very interesting topics, and that’s the way to go to generate a response!

    Thanks for the encouragement. I am learning a lot from blogging. For one, it helps me focuses more on what’s important and the more I write, the easier it is for me to come to term with certain issues.

    Once a week; twice a week; whenever you write is the correct time for you. You are so tuned in to your part in the universe. I am so glad I found your blog. Your words are an inspiration to think and you use some great phrases and adjectives to describe things. Because you write about some real issues, it also helps the readers.

    Well, it’s my first visit but still, want to say like how you put that
    “I enjoy this non-relationship with those of you who deem my writing worthy for 1~3 minutes of your life.”

    I pillage my sidebar from the same template you’re using (Orcasia was it called?) Does yours work in IE or did I break it carrying it over?

    I think it’s a good idea myself to have a schedule that way if you do more it’s a bonus! Not a bad idea to have some back up posts handy for those days you just don’t feel like it!

    I find programs like Webalizer and AWStats to be really inaccurate (the ones that come with ICDSoft). At one point I was supposedly getting over 1000 unique a day, but when I went into my server logs and really checked every HTTP request, the stats didn’t add up. I suspect that they’re also counting spiders, crawlers, and referrer spam bots.

    The best way to tell how many people are actually visiting is with the server logs. You can tell what a true human visit is by several consecutive server requests from the same IP, which is one initial “view” of your page requesting all graphics and javascripts. If you’re lazy, you can use Google Analytics (1000 daily average Webalizer daily average turned into 50 Google Analytics daily average for me)- it’s the most accurate stat program that I’ve ever used, but best is still server logs that let you trace exactly how many people are navigating, what time they’re coming, how a visitor is navigating, how long they’re spending on a page, how long it takes a page to load, etc.

    Also, ICDSoft recently changed the way they update their server logs. They used to have one file for each month, but now they update one file a day for server speed reasons, which is really annoying when you want to track by the month. You can use this script to concatenate all stats for a certain month into one file.

    $year = ‘2006′;
    $month = ‘11′; # the month variable must have a leading zero if less than 10
    $subdomain = ‘www’;
    echo “Generating log …”;
    system(”cd ~/logs/{$year}-{$month}/ && find . -name ‘{$subdomain}-*’|sort|xargs -r zcat > ~/private/access_log.txt”);
    echo “Done.”;

    Doesn’t include the PHP start and end tags in case you have it turned off in comments.

    Perl: Never tried IE and this is a temporary layout for now so I will be switching soon.

    Jeff: Yeah. I have about 30 regulars from what google analytics is telling me. I doubt that’s the true nature. For some reason, I can’t find the same server log you mentioned on the ftp. But I doubt I’ll get into that. I feel like I shouldn’t be tracking what my visitors are doing, but that’s up for pondering at another time. For now, it’s a focus on the new layout.

    I am getting more and more worried about the economy and global meltdown.

    The more things change the more they remain the same. The fundamental challenges we face today have changed little since Chaucer penned his observations on life and distilled them in a set of tales. In the modern city of Canterbury University Students analyse and dissect the meanings conveyed in texts set in that very locale in the 1300’s.

    Youngsters face today’s Jekyll and Hyde society not knowing that the Constants remain; love, betrayal, desire, fear. Each story conveys a lesson as we study for our degree in the University of Life, the big diploma mill of which we are all Alumni. We sit grinning like Cheshire cats, thinking we have all the answers.

    We call it a success when we pollute our atmosphere shooting down our own Satellite USA 193, Market Street Credibility is our preferred accreditation and recognition from our peers and fellow consumers, we Poison our Planet for Profit. Banks have crashed before and remember – you can’t eat money.

    Globalization has consequences. Everything we do has consequences, even something simple like buying firewood. The Oregon ODA advises not to obtain anything from out-of-state because of all the insects and diseases it might carry. That is just a relatively local issue. Imagine all the things that are carried around the world each day – each hour. We must protect our future, just as we should remember our past. All over the world, From the UK to the USA and the Seychelles to Egypt, still, yes, STILL, there is no REAL alternative to fossil fuels.

    Are we all going to purgatory in a wheelbarrow telling each other stories to pass the time? Sometimes I wonder!

    Sorry guys, I had a long day and feel sick of the world. Rant Over!

    There was this guy see.
    He wasn’t very bright and he reached his adult life without ever having learned “the facts”.
    Somehow, it gets to be his wedding day.
    While he is walking down the isle, his father tugs his sleeve and says,

    “Son, when you get to the hotel room…Call me”

    Hours later he gets to the hotel room with his beautiful blushing bride and he calls his father,

    “Dad, we are the hotel, what do I do?”

    “O.K. Son, listen up, take off your clothes and get in the bed, then she should take off her clothes and get in the bed, if not help her. Then either way, ah, call me”

    A few moments later…

    “Dad we took off our clothes and we are in the bed, what do I do?”

    O.K. Son, listen up. Move real close to her and she should move real close to you, and then… Ah, call me.”

    A few moments later…

    “DAD! WE TOOK OFF OUR CLOTHES, GOT IN THE BED AND MOVED REAL CLOSE, WHAT DO I DO???”

    “O.K. Son, Listen up, this is the most important part. Stick the long part of your body into the place where she goes to the bathroom.”

    A few moments later…

    “Dad, I’ve got my foot in the toilet, what do I do?”
